Pittsburgh Tops Cleveland For 12th Consecutive Time
October 31, 2009 by Ross Everett
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been playing the Cleveland Browns for longer than any other team in the National Football League, dating back to 1950. And while it hasn’t been quite that long since the Cleveland Browns won a game against the Steelers it may be starting to feel like it. On Sunday, Pittsburgh won for the twelfth straight time dating back to 2003 as they topped Cleveland by a final score of 27-13. The defending Superbowl champions improved to 4-2 while the Browns fell to 1-5.
The good news for NFL betting enthusiasts who took the +13′ with the Browns as a road underdog is that they managed to cover the pointspread by the slimmest of possible margins. Betting against the defending Superbowl champion is a long standing handicapping concept, and this season at least its worked like a charm-the Steelers have only covered one of their first six games. Cleveland, meanwhile, evened their NFL pointspread record at 3-3 on the season. The Browns have covered three straight after dropping their first three both straight up and against the spread.
Pittsburgh dominated the game in virtually every statistical category. They amassed 28 first downs to 12 for Cleveland, held a 543 to 197 total yardage advantage and a 36:46 to 23:14 time of possession advantage. Most of the post game talk from both sides was about a controversial spot in the first half where the Steelers were given a first down on a short yardage play when it appeared that they didn’t make the required yardage.
After the contest, Derek Anderson spoke of the frustration of continually coming up short against the Steelers. The Browns have only one once in ten games since Pittsburgh moved into their new home at Heinz Field:
“We’re not trying to lose every time we go out here. We put tons of hours in and … it’s frustrating. Every single week, it’s frustrating.”
Steelers’ tight end Heath Miller said the team is happy to be where they are at this point despite not playing up to their standards:
“I think we haven’t played our best ball yet and that’s pretty comforting. We’ve gotten a few wins here without playing our best.”
The Steelers will host Brett Favre and the 6-0 Minnesota Vikings next Sunday. After a bye week, the Steelers will hit the road to play another undefeated team as they take on the Denver Broncos on Monday, November 9. Cleveland will host the Green Bay Packers this Sunda. They’ll head to ‘The Windy City’ to face the Chicago Bears the following Sunday and then have a bye week.

How To Get Started As An Artist At Art Festivals
October 31, 2009 by Penny Logan
If you have a hankering to quit your day job and actually pay the bills by selling your artwork, you might consider doing Art Festivals. Many fine artists and fine crafters make a living at outdoor art shows. You have to start by being a good artist and creating art or fine crafts (jewelry, pottery, etc.) that communicate to the public.
At first glance the art show circuit may look like an idyllic life for an artist – traveling from festival to festival, public appreciating and buying your artwork, supporting yourself and family as an artist while seeing new cities and areas. The modern gypsy life.
But don’t get carried away. It really is hard work. Traveling can take its toll and setting up a tent and display and tearing it down after the show is just plain slave labor. The trick is to make enough money to pay the bills, buy new art materials, pay for the shows and expenses of the road and still have time in between shows to create your art.
Getting started without vast expense spent on show fees and displays is the trick. We will be doing a series of articles with tips on how to start, and how to find and do a few shows as a test run – if you like it, then you can continue. If not, you won’t be out a fortune.
If you know an artist who is doing art shows regularly and making a living at it, you want to cultivate a friendship. Learn all you can from him or her, go to a show or two and help that artist set up and take down and sell in exchange for information on how to run the business. It really is a business. You have to keep business records, pay tax, get licenses, etc. Become an apprentice to someone who is already successful.
In case you don’t know any artists who do shows, go meet some. Visit some local art shows, talk to the artists. You can observe what kinds of art work sells, and what quantity you would have to sell to make a profit. You can imagine yourself outside in your booth for 2-4 days. Most artists will be very happy to tell you all about what they do, and perhaps you can find someone who will let you apprentice.
Compare what is selling at the art shows you attend to the art you create. Will the public who attend art shows be the right public for your art? Can you sell your artwork for a price that people at art shows will pay? Three or four years ago people were buying original art for a thousand or more dollars, but during the current recession, that is rare. Do you produce any prints or jewelry or whatever you create that could sell for $20 or less? Can you produce enough of them to sell a quantity that will make an art show profitable?
While visiting art shows and apprenticing, read some more about art shows. Www.zapplication.org has a listing of hundreds of shows, and shows you how to apply, with lots of information about fees and locations. There are magazines written for art show artists – such as Where It’s At and Sunshine Artist. Most art shows have their own websites – look up local shows, and read the websites.
This is your beginning. In articles to come we will cover how to chose a first show, get accepted and actually do the show. This is the beginning of your new career.

Big Home Videos Brings To You Monsters Vs Aliens

Animation movies are always fun to watch and specially so if it happens to be Monsters vs. Aliens, which has enough humour, action and special effects to keep you glued to your seats. Produced by DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Pictures, it is the first computer animated movie to be directly produced in a stereoscopic 3-D format.
Famous stars like Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Hugh Laurie, Will Arnett, Rainn Wilson and Paul Rudd have lent their voices to the varied characters. The movie shows how Susan Murphy (Reese Witherspoon) is hit by a meteorite on the day of her wedding to weatherman Derek Dietl (Paul Rudd), absorbing a substance called quantonium and growing into a giantess. Fearing people’s lives, the police send her to a prison where she comes across General W.R. Monger (Kiefer Sutherland), B.O.B. (Seth Rogen), a brainless, indestructible gelatinous blob; Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D. (Hugh Laurie), a mad scientist with the head and abilities of a cockroach; the Missing Link (Will Arnett), an amphibious fish-ape hybrid; and Insectosaurus, a colossal grub that is even larger than Susan.
Where on one hand Susan yearns to get back her normal life, the movie takes us to Gallaxhar (Rainn Wilson), who detects the quantonium radiation emanating from Earth and deploys a gigantic robotic probe to find and extract it from its source, Susan. After a botched attempt by the President of the United States (Stephen Colbert) to make first contact with the robot, it begins destroying everything in sight, resisting all conventional military force. Finally, the monsters are handed over the task to fight the robot promising them freedom in return.
Amidst a lot of action and excitement, the monsters successfully destroy the robot. Amidst all this, the movie takes an emotional turn when Derek breaks up with Susan, leaving her feeling extremely isolated and lonely. Monsters vs Aliens then shows how Susan goes back to her normal life, is too happy to get rid of Derek, who once again tries to get in touch with her for his own benefit and how the monsters stumble upon their next mission and get ready to rescue the world.
As a unique promotional strategy, Bank of America gave away vouchers which covered the cost of an upgrade to a 3-D theatrical viewing of the film for its customers.
By grossing $59.3 million in 4,104 theaters during the opening weekend, the movie proved its mettle by completely gripping the audience and their imagination. It was released in DVD and Blu-ray in the US and Canada on September 29, 2009 and will be released on October 26, 2009 in the UK. A Halloween special entitled “Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space” is also in the offing. If watching the movie wasn’t enough for you, you now have the privilege of enjoying a game where you can wear the garb of the various characters and play through each of the scenes.
