Affiliate marketing is actually a very good way to promote your business – fast. With it, you can have lead generators to help spread the word about your products or services and product-sellers for increasing your profits. It is also very flexible and even cost effective.

Now that you have made the decision to use affiliate marketing keep these tips in mind.

Select the best model to incorporate as your affiliate program.

Depending on your overall goals there are several models to choose from for your affiliate marketing program one example is called “Commissioned Based”. For Example: You pay your affiliates only when they generate you a sale.

Let’s say you want to generate leads or have more subscribers on your list. If this is the case you may opt into paying your affiliates for each person that is added to your list through their efforts. Another great resource of affiliates, is their ability to drive traffic to your site and be compensated for doing so. This is called Pay Per Click or Pay Per Visit.

Your landing page should be your main focus

Your landing page becomes an integral part of your affiliate marketing efforts because it is the place where publishers can refer their visitors or customers. A landing page will provide your potential customers with details about the benefits of your products and services and, thus, is important for increasing conversion rate.

It takes allot of time and money to build an effective landing page campaign. If you are like me, before creating something new; I look to see if someone has already created it. I found a company called ad2action.com and they created a system that automatically creates landing pages on the fly with just a few clicks of the mouse. Through their software you can Create the page, add lead forms to collect data, send auto-responders or drip market, sell products and merchant the products as well as promote the landing page to your contacts using any major social network provider like Facebook, MySpace, Linkedin and more. They currently support over 100 networks.

Choose an affiliate networking company.

When you are done building you landing page for your product you will want to associate your self with a good affiliate network.

Listed here are a few of my preferred networks that I recommend: http://www.valueclick.com http://www.commissionjunction.com http://www.linkshare.com

These sites have better affiliate marketing policies than most, excellent customer support for merchants, and a long list of established affiliate marketers.

Determine your monthly budget.

You need to identify how much you’re willing to spend on affiliate marketing before you actually get started with it. If you’re just starting out you may want to stay a little on the low budget side until you have established a pattern and method for keeping track of the effectiveness of your individual affiliate marketers. Additionally, you can always change your budget on a month-to-month basis as needed for sales, promotions, holidays, seasonal products etc. Don’t forget to factor in the fees charged by the affiliate marketing website when planning out your budget.

Keep track.

Most network websites provide analytics to track the effectiveness of the affiliates selling your product or service. As you become more familiar with these reports you will better understand how to modify your campaigns to maximize your ROI.
